Jim Bennett: Home

My most recent project, a music blog of sorts, was to record one hymn per day for the year.  Yes, that's a lot of hymns.  And I limited the choices to those in public domain, narrowing the available hymns greatly.  The project ended on Easter Sunday.  I simply needed to devote more time to other projects.  While the more than 100 posts I made are short of the 365 on which I'd set my sites, I nevertheless discovered some new and wonderful hymns, tried to enliven some familiar ones, and hopefully spread some beauty and joy in this world.

Many of these rough recordings are available as a free download (use the music tab) and they can always be streamed.  They were (mostly) recorded on a keyboard and were often done (chosen/arranged/played/recorded) in less than an hour--I lead a busy life!  You can learn a bit about each hymn by going to the Music tab and clicking on the title of the selection--be sure to pause the Flash player first.  Thanks for stopping by---I hope you enjoy what you hear. If so, please take a moment to let me know in the Guestbook.

My next recording project will be to sift through the posts I made from January 1 through April 24 and choose some of them to work on further.  My plan is to bring in some other musicians and record a new CD.  Stay tuned for how you may be able to help...
